Case Study - 9 November 2001Aussie BBQ retail chain gets immediate return from Paris and eXpediteBarbeques Galore is one of the largest retailers of outdoor leisure products in Australia with 84 stores across the country. Of these, 35 are company owned and located in metropolitan areas and 49 are owner-operated (Licensee) and are located in rural centres. A further 70 stores operate in ten States in the United States. Paris Transforms DocumentsIn mid-2001, Head Office wanted to improve the look of their invoices and statements and tailor them to the specific needs of their different outlets. So they implemented the Paris Designer and Spooler through their software supplier, Advanta Software. The laser printed invoices not only looked better they saved on photocopying. Now the warehouse staff no longer had to photocopy computer stationery before it could be faxed to their rural stores as an advanced shipping notice. This was important, as rural outlets needed time to prepare for the arrival of a delivery truck full of BBQs. However the 20 or more invoices a day took a while to fax manually as each invoice had between 6 to 12 pages. So a couple of months later Advanta Software, implemented eXpedite. Now the fax or email address is included in the print data stream. eXpedite looks for the email address first, if it doesn’t find one, it then looks for a fax number. Either way, the documents are transmitted to clients automatically. Business Systems Analyst for Galore Group Ltd, Mr. Brian MacGeorge, said, "Our Warehouse staff is now freed up for warehousing activities rather than standing in front of fax machines." All company owned stores use email but some licenced stores do not, so eXpedite outputs these to Winfax. eXpedite Quicker & More Reliable"Those that nominated email delivery love it, because it is more manageable," commented Brian. "Email is easier to read and documents are provided in a PDF file so they can get a good hardcopy if they need it." Brian says that email delivery is also more reliable than fax - no more lost faxes that fell on the floor. "We now get far less complaints about missing faxes." In addition the documents are getting to all destinations quicker - fax included. This is because eXpedite and Winfax are controlling the fax operation and re-dialling.
