PRESS RELEASE - 19 March 2003Version 8 of Advanta's BILS Logistics Suite releasedAdvanta Software, a leading software solutions provider of Logistics and eBusiness applications today announced the release of version 8 of the BILS logistics Suite. The latest release incorporates a wide range of enhancements with one of the most significant being the introduction of the Advanta Run Time version 6.0 (BRTv6). The new Run Time is the culmination of some 1000 hours of development work and extends the portability of the entire BILS to a wider range of computer platforms. As Advanta Software’s Managing Director Robert Kery said, “in addition to the extensive range of Unix platforms we support, you can now run the BLS on Microsoft operating systems; Windows 2000 and Windows XP. BRTv6 also enables the introduction of many other developments, one of which is native Microsoft SQL Server database support. This development has commenced and its release is expected in the first half of 2003." The new features included in version 8 span issues as diverse as Bond Stores, Local Freight and Kitting. For example, clients can now operate part of a warehouse as non-bonded, which is very useful if duty paid stock is required on short notice. The Local Freight module is now expanded to allow for all possible carriers and the advanced Kitting Module provides distributors with the ability to administer the assembly of kits that need to be stocked. In addition to many other module specific features, Version 8 has some enhancements that are system wide, such as additional security and a handy facility that enables any report to be emailed straight from the print queue. “The current release is part of our ongoing R&D program. We are committed to maintain our substantial investment in new product development and have produced some leading products over the past 18 months including, eZorder and eXpedite which have won wide acceptance in the market. eXpedite is being distributed globally as part of XLPrint’s print management solution and eZorder is used by some of Australia’s leading organisations such as Westpac, NSW Police and Aristocrat. Our current program has some exciting products on the drawing board – with releases planned in the next 6 months.”
