EDITORIAL FEATURE

Advanta Software is a wholly Australian owned company - this year celebrating its 25th year in business. It continues to be a vibrant and dynamic organisation - strongly focussed on its selected niche markets.

One of Advanta's specialist markets is in Logistics systems. Using the broad experience gained over two decades, Advanta has developed a comprehensive suite of software packages, the Advanta 4GL packages, which cover both Distribution and Logistics applications. In recent years, these have been re-engineered and extended to meet the specific needs of Distribution Centres in medium to large organisations and third party logistics companies. Having packages which extend to purchasing and financial applications, places Advanta in a strong position to satisfy the growing trend towards outsourcing the entire supply chain.

Over the past two years Advanta has released a number of new modules and upgrades to existing modules - including EDI, Warehouse Management versions 5 and 6, and Contract Warehousing version 6 - which includes Client Billing.

Advanta's flagship product is its Paperless Warehousing and Distribution system - which is applicable to all distribution centre and contract warehousing operations. It makes full use of advanced techniques such as bar coding, RF terminals and EDI. It also provides sophisticated functionality including full location control, batch and serial tracking, expiry dating, warehouse zoning, optimised picking and put away, and comprehensive labour and performance reporting.

The latest release of the Contract Warehousing software incorporates several extensions to the Warehouse Management module plus the release of the Client Billing module. These new features have been added as a result of collaboration and feedback from Advanta's clients. They represent the direct experiences of clients in diverse operations throughout Australia.

There has already been significant demand for this latest Contract Warehousing software with half a dozen implementations already under way.

However, Advanta does more than just provide advanced logistics software. Advanta has a proven set of methodologies for implementing and supporting sophisticated systems. These ensure that software implementations are commissioned quickly and efficiently. Also, Advanta maintains a long term strategic relationships with its clients and provides regular ongoing reviews to ensure that their systems continue to meet the ever changing needs of clients.
